Day 7 - Ovada to Novaledo 246 miles

It's becoming more difficult to remember where I've been during the day. Breakfast started with some ice cold grapefruit juice and what tasted like Italy's version of a jaffa cake which I was very pleased about. Also some parma ham, bread and honey.
We then travelled to Lake Garda, playground of the rich and famous (George Clooney, Brad Pitt etc) but didn't meet any of them, probably didn't get my emails 🤷🏼‍♂️
My must do on this tour was the Strada della Forra and it was definitely not to be missed. I didn't get any photos but did video the whole ride, that'll follow when I get back 😃
Prices for camping around Lake Garda are extortionate so we went a little further afield, found a small "site" on Google maps. We arrived to what was essentially a couples house and pitched in their garden, they couldn't be more helpful. Giving out beers, WiFi password and allowing us to use their kitchen, and teaching us a little Italian too, all for the sum of €30.

Hoping to make Slovenia tomorrow, no idea what that will bring.

Day 14, Mazingabe to Hazebrouk 50 miles

Great start to the day with breakfast laid on by Annette. Consisting of jams, bread, croissant, cheese, ham, coffee and orange juice. Even the dog had some. We knew it may be a wet ride today so took our time, trying to dodge the drops by visiting a few Great War cemeteries and a museum. If you get the chance, visit the museum at Fromelles (Thorpe Wood) at 5 euros per adult it was very well worth it and underlines the futility of the sacrifice all those brave young men made. On leaving the museum, the rain started coming down so we took refuge in a McDonald's where we bumped into an odd Scottish biker spending a month in Europe, sleeping behind bus shelters. When the rain gave way it was off to Hazebrouck for a look around and a lunchtime beer at the Cafe de Paris. Day 2

Sad start to the day, 2 of our group headed for home 😔 300 miles of non motorway roads saw us ending up in Mulhouse, France on the border with Germany. On the way we bumped into Joan of Arcs birthplace, a jet taking off from a car park and rounded the day off with a nice meal in Mulhouse.  Getting back to the hotel, we had a beer with Jörg & Sybille, a married couple from Stuttgart riding Harleys on their touring holiday. Jörg gave us their phone number for if ever we were in their hometown. Unsure what tomorrow will bring or even which direction we're headed, possibly along the bottom of Germany toward Slovenia. UPDATE: I forgot to remove the disc lock from my front wheel and dropped the bike 😒🤣

Day 3 - Luneville to Dornstetten

189 miles today. After a bit of a scare with Marks bike looking like it may have had a leak from the rear drive. Thankfully we reckon it may have been something they sprayed on when changing tyres. So after a quick coffee in La Cervoise we were back on the road. My original plan for visiting Struthof now cancelled, it was off to Colmar for a look around the medieval city. A French town but very Germanic looking. A decision was made to target Hohencamping in Germany, a place I'd stayed at once before. By chance we happened to find a memorial at an old blockhouse of the Maginot Line. ...and after not excluding ferries from the satnav, got a free ferry across the mighty Rhine.
