Day 13, Baarle Nassau, Netherlands to Mazingarbe. 180 miles
Breakfast started with 3 espresso from the moka pot, followed by a quick trip to the nearest bakery for a sausage roll. Riding in the Netherlands is pretty tough with priority given to cyclists on the road, to the point of stopping mid roundabout to let cyclists pass.
We then hit the road aiming for Arras and some WW1 sights.
We had a look around Vimy ridge, the memorial to Canadian troops. It was stunning with some strategically placed maple 🍁 trees.
Couldn't help but look for any Hardings, not related of course.
It was then that we looked for tonight's lodgings.
We found a nice place about 30 mins away on the outskirts of Lens run by a lovely lady called Annette who wasn't home. We ended up waiting in a local bar where we were warmly welcomed by the locals. Each visitor shaking hands and wishing us bonjour.
